CIO and HR Top 10 IT Staffing Issues
Staffing is the key to implementing and maintaining customer oriented systems
In a survey of 129 organizations Janco has identified the top 10 IT Staffing Issues for CIOs and HR managers. As expect recruiting and hiring IT pros with the new technical skills is a challenge for 75% organizations interviewed (97 out of 129) identified this is a top issue.
Janco found that retraining staff with critical and difficult to hire skill sets is more of an issue (67%) with the robust IT job market. More time is now focused on providing not only excellent compensation and fringe benefit programs but also on team building and staff development.
Survey conducted by Janco Associates, Inc. identified the the staffing issues that CIOs and HR managers have. CIOs and HR professionals in those organizations were asked to list and rank their top 5 IT staffing issues. 129 companies participated in the survey and included both large and mid-sized companies with CIO that had at least 150 professionals under their direct control.
Staffing is a management priority for over 80% of all CIOs
With the improvement in the economic outlook, CIOs have been given the green light to expand their IT staffs and add the new skill sets necessary to successfully implement new operational systems like Blockchain and DLP along with move more data to the cloud. These new systems are driving the move towards mobile computing (76%) and identity protection solutions (73%)
IT Governance is a focus of most CIOs
With the rapid development and deployment of the new technologies, standardization and integration (71%) with new and legacy systems. Access management (69%) is tied closely to the sensitivity of the information and data that is available users both internal and external to the enterprise. That in turn drives the requirement to meet mandated compliance (67%) - both domestic (CaCPA) and international (GDPR).
Other priorities
Budget Management (64%) now is focused on the proper allocation of monies to top priorities versus in the recent past where it was cost control. SaaS demand (64%) is driven by operational elements of most enterprises who place a higher priority on this than CIOs.
