Jobs initially added to the US Job Market
The number of jobs added in September, before the shutdown, contines to be on a downward spiral.
The total number of job added continues to be in a downward trend. Unemployment nationally moved up to 4.4%. At the same time the unemployment rate for IT Professionals spiked up to 7% with 177,000 unemployed IT Professionals.

Overall, US employers added just 73,000 jobs last month, the Labor Department report
The August report was well short of the 115,000 jobs expected. US tech hiring fell by 23.900 May through July, IT Pros shed 10,300 jobs in July, according to Janco's CIO and IT Manager Newsletter,
Staffing reductions were concentrated in three primary areas: IT and custom software services, cloud infrastructure, and telecommunications.
Compared to June, active tech job listings in July dropped 3% and new listings fell 8%. Highest-demand roles included software developers, systems engineers, tech support workers, cybersecurity, and network engineers..
Tech jobs are rapidly shifting as AI and data innovation grow. Roles such as database architects and data scientists have surged by 1,069% and 215% year-over-year, respectively. While those customer service and adminsration roles are diappearing.
Automation is reshaping IT, creating with high demand for experts in machine learning, big data, and AI and requiring new leadership roles in the finance and legal industries, with a focus on ethical AI.

Large enterprises tend to compensate IT Professionals more than SMBs. The top 10 paying executive jobs are shown in the chart below. The only position that is paid more in mid-sized enterprises is that of Vice President of Consulting Services.
